You’re invited to sit down with advertising agency people and have conversations with the ones who hire people. In here we asked them how they got their first advertising job; how they suggest you get yours; and what you can expect once you get inside. This book is a culmination of personal interviews with advertising professionals at various-sized agencies. Its purpose is to help close the information gap between people investigating a career in advertising and the professionals already engaged in the field. Although it cannot replace dialogue between the two, it can function as a bridge. It was not written to teach advertising or to promote an advertising career. It was written to help people new to the industry “get their foot in the door” to their first advertising job. The book assumes that the reader is considering or preparing for an advertising career, and has an idea of the basic functions of advertising agencies and their employees.
